NET GALA

As one of the driving forces who spearhead the underground club scene of the city of Seoul, NET GALA distort the conventional language of electronic music. Pulsating drum patterns and mercurial sonic elements amalgamate inside the South Korean producer’s body of work, raising questions about identity, queer culture, body politics, and many more.

Starting off as a member of the local club scene in Seoul, NET GALA have honed his frenzied sounds through various events and collaborations. After releasing his audacious first EP [re:FLEX*ion] in 2019 via NBDKNW, NET GALA expanded his own vision of melodramatic emotion in SVBKVLT-released [신파 SHINPA], the second EP in 2021. The latter took inspiration from Shinpageuk (신파극), a form of theatre from 20th century Korea. NET GALA's distinctive perspective of electronic music has most notably attracted Louis Vuitton, where NET GALA is featured on their 2021 F/W online runway featuring BTS, and their 2023 campaign film. His 2nd EP, [신파 SHINPA] was met with acclaim, being named Bandcamp's Best Club release of 2021, and garnering them another

Korean Music Award nomination, after grabbing 3 nominations for [re:FLEX*ion].

NET GALA’s idiosyncratic graft of underground dance music and blatantly warped pop

not only shines in their recordings but also in various DJ mixes and shows. Having his

career starting off as a member of the renowned local LGBTQ collective Shade Seoul,

and co-founding Gwangheungchang, NET GALA has built a queer clubbing platform for

those seeking asylum, amalgamating club culture with a unique twist of Korean queer

identity and politics by adding cynical wit and joyful freedom.

NET GALA’s such accumulated efforts are chaotically yet gorgeously presented in his

first full-length, [GALAPAGGOT], released in October 2024. [GALAPAGGOT] has

received acclaim from critics and listeners, and from this NET GALA received a Korean

Music Award for Best Electronic Album in 2025. After his first EU tour in 2025, NET

GALA now resides in London, planning to release new materials in 2026.
