Amanda Mur

A spell that connects present, past and future. A telluric connection that unites the origin (Cantabria) with the soul of the creator and her audience. Avant-garde and tradition. Spirit and research. Amanda Mur's music subjugates the heart, rocks the ear and inhabits a radically own universe that opens step by step, full of mystery and emotion. A jolt of free creativity that is condensed in “Neu Om”, her debut album (La Castanya, 2025).

Amanda Mur's story begins in 1996 in Cantabria. In her homeland, she began her professional degrees in piano and singing, before moving to Madrid to study the a Bachelor Degree on Music Composition and continue her studies in lyrical singing. During this stage of formal training, the artist developed a phase of technical experimentation, which allowed her to perform several concert works in venues such as Auditorio Nacional or Teatro de la Zarzuela. Creations that transcend referents and are lodged between fusion and transculturality.

Her work is also taking shape thanks to other influences already present since his childhood: the atmospheres of nature, the sound spaces of rural and urban everyday life, the sound of church organs, et cetera. Like a blow against the wall that separates the academy from the popular, Amanda's music is a music of hybridization and contrast.

All this baggage is filtered and highlighted in “Neu Om”, an album that navigates between avant-garde, experimentation and folklore. References to a Cantabrian magical realism with rapturous passages of human metaphysics. A dialogue between organic and synthetic textures that blends processed vocals with string arrangements and hunting pianos. Mysterious melodies that find a neo-mysticism of tense beauty. The album, produced by Amanda Mur herself, counts with Adrian Foulkes, mixing and production assistant and the British grime musician Joker, who has also been in charge of additional mixing and mastering. A declaration of intentions that seems a definitive work instead of a debut.
